Copper Nails

Let me tell you the story of how I got to these copper nails. Originally, I wanted a nude nail. However, my skin color clashed horribly with the yellow undertones of the nude nails. I hated them! I didn’t want to go through the struggle of removing them and putting on a new set because it was already late so I took a chance and painted them. I knew that nail polish doesn’t stick to matte press on nails but I hoped that it would!

I used the ILNP polish in “Abundance (H)” and the results were much better. The copper was dark enough to cover the original matte color and I didn’t see any signs of the nail polish lifting. I topped it off with the Holo Taco top coat and cuticle cream plus lotion. I was happy with the final look.

Washing Brushes I

I like to wash my makeup brushes every 2 weeks. I feel like once I got older and developed adult acne, it would be better if I got into the habit of washing my brushes frequently. I knew that doing it weekly was not something I could do so I settled with doing it on a bi-weekly basis.

The way that I like to wash my brushes is to fill up the bathroom sink with water and let them soak as I clean them one by one. My foundation/powder brushes and sponges are always the dirtiest because they are the most used. I do have eyeshadow brushes but I use a dry makeup brush cleaner in between uses. That makes it less brushes for me to wash which is a definite plus.

I’m trying out the Beauty Blender Solid Cleaner in Unscented. I normally use baby shampoo but I ran out. So far I like it because it does a good job at cleaning my brushes.

April Palette of the Month

For the month of April I decided to use the Ciate London The Editor Palette in New England. I got this palette from a friend and it’s probably the most colorful shimmery palette I have. I’m a neutral kind of gal for reference. Although I don’t like to use shimmery shades to go to work, I decided to use this palette to try something new.

I’m not bold enough yet to wear the blues but hopefully in time I will be. Color always causes me hesitation because I’m no makeup pro. Majority of the time I don’t even know what I’m doing, I just wing it and hope it looks good.

Matte Blue Nails Removal

I’m currently taking a break from acrylic nails so I have a routine of switching out press on nails every 2 weeks. It was time to remove the matte blue press ons by Kiss. My nails stayed on for the 2 weeks but they did start to lose their shape. My right thumbnail also started to break so I just ended up cutting it down so it wouldn’t get caught on anything.

The method that I use to remove press on nails is just a flat tool that makes it easy to lift the press on from the nail bed. I always start from either the edge of the nail or from any area that the nail has started to lift. After 2 weeks the glue starts to wear off so the removal process doesn’t take too long.

After all nails are off I file them because they sometimes break during the removal. It also helps remove any leftover glue residue. Sometimes my nails grow long enough to be the same size as the press on so, if I need to, I cut my nails. This time I only cut one.

The final step is my favorite because using cuticle cream and lotion is a daily routine. This allows my hands to be soft and also gives my nails a nice look.

Makeup Pans & Replacements

It was definitely time to bring out some new makeup. I hit pan on some of my essential products and I was itching to try some of the new makeup that I had in my stash. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and L.A. Girl Pro.conceal Corrector were from 2019! Throughout the pandemic I didn’t wear makeup so I had ways to go in 2021 when I started wearing it again. It wasn’t until this year where it was time to call it quits. These 2 products have been my holy grail for years.

In case you’re wondering why I have so many mascara pans, I use about 2 mascaras daily. I’m always trying new ones because mascara is the one makeup item I wear because I love it. To go to work I would use the Hourglass Unlocked Mascara, which was too flaky for my liking. Even when it came time to remove it, it was flaky. Replacing it will be the Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara. On days when I’m up for it I will use the Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara and Nars Climax. They are holy grail products along with the Benefit Tinted Primer which is always my base.

The last item on my pans list is your typical Cherry Chapstick. I have about 3 other chapstick/lip balms that I use depending on what’s within reach so that is why there is no replacement for it. I’m not a fan of the Chapstick brand because it’s more on the dryer side so you won’t be seeing me using it often.

I’m estimating that it will take me about 6 months to finish the concealers and I’ll be done with the Tarte and Benefit mascaras in about 3 months since those are constantly used.

March Palette of the Month

I have a couple of eyeshadow palettes that I don’t use out of laziness. I say that I’m going to use them for special occasions but the reality of it is that those special occasions only come around like once a quarter. For that reason, I decided that this was the year that I would wear eyeshadow to work and I would rotate between the palettes that I have.

This month I decided to use Maybelline’s The City Mini Palette in Hi-Rise Sunset. I picked this up a couple of weeks ago (unbagging coming at some point) from Walgreens. I thought it was perfect for my preferred work eyelook – one color. It was also right up my alley in terms of color so I purchased it knowing that I really didn’t need any more palettes. My justification was that I was keeping up with my goal!

Trying Something New

Back in January I mentioned that I was going to be trying new things. After much thinking and coming up with all the details I decided that I would invest in my creativity. For this reason, I decided to create a separate social media account where I could post things that my family and friends on my personal account wouldn’t understand.

I introduce SB Vibezzz as my creative outlet where I experiment with picture and video editing. SB Vibezzz will feature unboxings, unbaggings, beauty, and food. I posted a short Reels on a whim when Instagram tried to block my account for suspicious activity a day after opening the account. Since it did well, not really sure how, I decided to keep it.

What does it mean for Savir Blogs? Increased content! The things that I post on SB Vibezzz translate to a blog post with more details that most people don’t bother reading on Instagram. But it won’t just be content from SB Vibezz on here. I also have life updates, reviews, and anything else that I feel like posting.

Both Savir Blogs and SB Vibezzz are my way of bettering myself and hopefully there are people out there that can relate. Give me a follow so you won’t miss out. Let me know that you’re from here so I could follow you back!

2021 Nails

I love nails! I have my nails done 98% of the time. That 2% represents when I’ve taken off acrylics, press ons, or nail polish. In the Reels above you see my 2021 nail journey. I stuck to regular nail polish and acrylic nails for the majority of the year. It wasn’t until October that I started wearing press ons. The acrylic nails are done by my nail lady while the regular polish and press ons are done by me.

I discovered ILNP nail polish late 2020 so the majority of my nail polish colors in the beginning of 2021 were that brand as I learned the best way to make the manicure last. When I switched to press ons in October I expanded my size range. I prefer small sized press ons because they’re less likely to pop off but I found some medium sized ones that gave me added length without the worry. I dipped into the large sized section and I learned that they’re not that practical because of my line of work. Although pretty, they are not as durable.

I would say that my nails were pretty good last year. I definitely branched out in designs and got plenty of compliments.

Months Gone By – Goal Update

Coleus|October 9, 2020

Wow! It definitely was not my intention to have Savir Blogs on the back burner. Real life definitely took over! So since I last posted I had a list of goals I wanted to accomplish, it’s only right that I update you on my process or lack thereof.

Savir Blogs: I updated my Newark collection. One of the pictures was used for my job’s Instagram page and it received good feedback. It also served as inspiration to other people so I thought that was cool. I still have beauty related content in mind, just not any hauls. I’m thinking maybe a makeup collection post or empty pan post.

Weight: I have not lost the 5 pounds that I wanted to lose. I did however improve my eating habits. I’ve been watching my portions and being mindful of how often I eat junk food. I find that I feel much better after meals. I haven’t started to work out and honestly I’m currently not motivated enough to begin.

Tattoos & Piercings: My goal was to have 3 new tattoos and a nose piercing by June. I accomplished this! I got 3 tattoos in one sitting. Some might think that’s a lot but the tattoos are on the smaller size of the spectrum. The pain was tolerable, even the one on my ankle. I also got my right nostril pierced. Although I did tear up when the needle went in, the pain was less than what I expected.

Vacation: In June I went to Las Vegas with my brother. It was extremely hot with over 100 degree weather but it was fun. Neither my brother or I are gamblers so we spent the majority of the time walking the strip, buying drinks, and shopping. I tried to plan a family trip to Houston but I was not prepared for all the accommodations I had to take into consideration! I haven’t decided when I’ll start planning that again.

Overall I’m not too disappointed with my goal update. I accomplished 2.5 out of the 4. Now that it’s the best time of the year, I think I’ll have time to focus on achieving the in progress goals.

Goals!

April 10, 2021

Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I have posted. Life got in the way and I neglected this blog. Hopefully, this time around I can do better. My scheduling has improved so I now have time to do the things that I want. I figured I would make my first post back about my current goals.

Savir Blogs: Of course this blog would be first on the list. I have updated my Flowers collection so check it out! Coming up I have some beauty related content in mind. I placed an order for Sephora’s beauty sale that I want to tell you guys about and I have been wearing my natural nails so I decided to share my nail health progress as well.

Weight: I want to lose 5 pounds. Last year I was very focused and ended up losing 10 pounds. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep the weight off because food is just too good! This time around I’m only interested in losing 5 pounds and I don’t have a set date by when I want this to happen. I’m taking my time by being conscious of what I’m eating but not making a big deal if I have junk food. I also have been slowly getting back to indoor cycling and walking to help me burn the calories at my pace.

Tattoos & Piercings: Yes, I am getting older in age but I do not have enough body art or piercings. My goal is to have 3 new tattoos and a nose piercing by June!

Vacation: I haven’t had a vacation in over a year. Once I get vaccinated I’ll feel comfortable traveling again. I cannot wait for this! Traveling does wonders for my mental health and not being able to travel last year really sucked!

Now that I have manifested my goals I’m ready to work to achieve what I want!
